October Monthly Meeting: Getting Out the Vote & Exec Committee Elections

Join us for our monthly meeting on Thursday, October 24 from 6-8 p.m. 

Meeting at Alpha Brewing Company (4310 Fyler Ave) in their back room!

We will share opportunities to get out the vote (GOTV) in the 6th Ward — absentee voting is already underway and every day counts! Whether you're up for knocking doors, dropping our endorsement information door-to-door, calling voters, setting out our "Vote Today" yard signs the night before the election (or picking them up after polls close), or taking a shift at one of the 6th Ward polling places to hand out our green sample ballots with our endorsements, there is a role for you!

Our full Executive Committee is up for election this month, as well. If you are interested, please consider running to serve on the 6th Ward Dems Exec Committee! At this meeting, candidates can make their pitch, and members will have the chance to ask questions and then vote on the 2024-2025 Exec Committee, consisting of:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Membership Secretary
  • Recording Secretary
Our bylaws outline each role in further detail.

Per our bylaws, any person who meets all of the following criteria is eligible to vote for Executive Committee officers:

  1. is a Democrat, 
  2. is registered to vote in the 6th Ward,
  3. has completed and submitted to the Membership Secretary (Byron Gilman-Hernandez), or their designate of the organization, an application for membership accompanied by the annual dues as may be fixed by a majority vote of the voting members, [This just means that you have paid your dues — dues payment includes the application]
  4. has not during the 12-month period preceding the submission of their application for membership allowed their name to appear in campaign literature, press releases or other published material as supporting or endorsing a candidate of a party other than the Democratic Party, and 
  5. is not a member of any other ward organization in the 6th Ward. An application for membership may be submitted in person, online, by mail, or to a member of the Executive Committee. Any and all dues paid are non-refundable.
