The new 6th Ward includes portions of the previous Wards 6, 7, 8, 10, 15, 19, and 25.
Two well-established open and independent ward organizations, the 15th Ward Democrats and the 8th Ward Independent Democrats, combined to form this new organization, along with fellow Democrats from the other combining wards.
WHAT IS A WARD ORGANIZATION?
The 6th Ward Democrats is the local unit of the Democratic Party. (There are also Democratic Party organizations on the city, state and national level.) We are a group of volunteers that works to educate voters in the 6th Ward about Democratic candidates and issues, and encourage voter participation. We hold candidate forums and vote to endorse candidates.
WHO CAN JOIN?
Any Democratic voter in the 6th Ward is invited to join us. We appreciate new ideas and perspectives!
WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT THIS IS AN OPEN AND INDEPENDENT WARD ORGANIZATION?
The 6th Ward Democrats is member-driven and makes decisions and endorsements independent from elected officials. Endorsements are based on a majority vote of eligible voting members.
